Sentinel-1 L2 OCN
Sentinel-1 level-2 OCN (Ocean) products consist of geo-located geophysical products derived from Level-1. OCN products are generated from all four Sentinel-1 imaging modes:
- Stripmap (SM)
- Interferometric Wide Swath (IW)
- Extra Wide Swath (EW)
- Wave (WV)
Product details
There is only one standard Level-2 product for wind, wave and currents applications - the Level-2 Ocean (OCN) product. The OCN product may contain the following geophysical components derived from the SAR data:
- Ocean Wind Field (OWI): The OWI component is a ground range gridded estimate of the surface wind speed and direction at 10 m above the surface
- Ocean Swell Spectra (OSW): The OSW component is a two-dimensional ocean surface swell spectrum and includes an estimate of wind speed and direction per swell spectrum. The OSW component provides continuity measurement of SAR swell spectra at C-band.
- Surface Radial Velocity (RVL): The RVL surface radial velocity component is a ground range gridded difference between the measured Level-2 Doppler grid and the Level-1 calculated geometrical Doppler. The RVL component provides continuity of the ASAR Doppler grid.
OCN products are generated from all four Sentinel-1 imaging modes. From SM mode, the OCN product will contain all three components. From IW and EW modes, the OCN product will only contain OWI and RVL. From WV modes, the OCN product will only contain OSW and RVL.
