NASA HGT Digital Elevation Model
The NASADEM dataset provides a global Digital Elevation Model (DEM) at 1 arc-second (~30 m) spatial resolution, primarily derived from the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) conducted in 2000. It delivers seamless, high-quality elevation data to support applications in hydrology, terrain analysis, infrastructure planning, natural hazard assessment, and Earth surface studies. NASADEM improves earlier global DEMs by providing full-resolution coverage, higher accuracy, and globally consistent elevation estimates.
Dataset details:
The elevation model is produced by reprocessing original SRTM radar data using enhanced interferometric algorithms and additional datasets such as ICESat/GLAS lidar, ASTER stereo DEMs, national elevation data for the United States, Mexico, and Canada, and GMTED2010 global terrain data. The combined data fill gaps and improve terrain detail, resulting in a complete global DEM with extra layers for radar backscatter, coherence, and incidence angle.
