Polar TEP

The polar regions are experiencing the fastest temperature increases associated with global climate change.  Moreover, as a source of natural resources, the polar regions face increased attention and traffic, placing further pressure on their delicate ecosystems.  Understanding and modelling the consequences of these changes is vitally important for everyone because aberrations in the polar regions will have global effects.

Polar TEP is a virtual research platform that provides polar-relevant data, tools, and processing in the cloud.  It is a central hub in the international polar data ecosystem.  Users can access algorithms and data remotely, utilizing computing resources and tools that they might not otherwise have, and avoiding the need to download and manage large volumes of data.  This new approach removes the need to transfer large data sets around the world, while increasing the analytical power available to researchers, operational service providers, industry, regional authorities, policy developers, and northern communities.
